Wildlife

Cranes in spring and fall

Sandhill cranes come through every spring and fall. Their arrival usually signals spring, and when they leave for the south, fall is here. When they call, it is very loud, a sound that seems almost prehistoric.

You see many birds up and down the valley, from bald eagles to mountain bluebirds.

Hear them at the start of the fields film above.
